Facials, Facials, Facials: Review and Tips

I recently had a professional facial from the Beauty Room at Short and Curly and talked to beauty expert Allie Clark for the know in facials and skincare!
First I will tell you what she did to my skin before I let you know what I think about it.
She cleansed my skin twice; once to remove the dirt and oil and next to really get down in my skin.
Calming Lavender Oil was then applied to my skin and my skin was massaged in certain motions to be benefited by. During this, she pushed in front of my underarms and behind my ears which is called lymphatic massage. Lymph is a vital fluid your creates to move important nutrients. So pumping at the Lymph Nodes helps to stimulate the system and make sure it is working properly. Then I had a facial mask on; it was a blend of two to remove any dead skin cells. A hydration serum and moisturiser with sunsreeen was applied. The serum was Dermaquest Advanced B5 Serum, with 40% Hyaluronic Acids which can hold one thousand times its weight in water and is instantly softening and plumping. Finally, she put a moisturiser on me. Between certain products she, wiped them off with a hot towel.
Ok, so when you walk in, you see the below; the atmosphere is a girls paradise!
Above is the waiting room and below is the treatment room.
It is really quite glamorous. I really loved how the facial suited my skin concerns and certain products were used for my skin type. Allie really made the experience lovely and she was soft with my skin and explained everything which I quite liked. In the end, my skin felt so smooth and soft. I got a lot of compliments on my skin and it looked glowing. I find this affordable at $60 for half an hour! The Beauty Room also specialise in peels, waxing, tanning, manicures, pedicures and makeup application. I know this is my go-to beauty salon and you should all check them out.

You know my skin type and I actually have a better explanation for it. Allie Clark said, that my skin is congested. Think of your skin as a brick wall. What happens is that the new bricks replace the old ones and the old ones fall off. My bricks actually don't fall off.

She also uses the brand Dermaquest as it is very active and better than your average skincare line. If you have skin like mine, in the way of Clinique, she recommends the 3 Step and the Seven Day Scrub.

When talking to Allie Clark, she told me her top three skincare products that everyone should have.
1. Exfoliators
2. Anti Oxidants
This is like a shield for your skin and is a sunscreen for environmental damage such as stress.
3. Sunscreen
I will be doing another post shortly on Dermaquest and I would like to thank Miss Allie xx
Ashleigh
